Hi! I’m Raahaa โ and welcome to Homebites 365 ๐ค
I’m a home cook from Tamil Nadu, South India. And if you had told me 12 years ago that I would one day be running a food blog โ I would have laughed. Because before I got married I had never even made Maggi. Not once. ๐
My mom is an incredible cook and my dad is the most simple eater I have ever seen.. Growing up I just ate and enjoyed โ never once thought about how the food was made. That was her magic and I took it completely for granted.
Then I got married.
My husband is a foodie โ a true, passionate, eat-everything foodie. And he had been living away from home for years because of education and work, surviving on outside food. Out of love and concern for his health I decided to learn cooking. For him. From scratch.
My very first dish was lemon rice. He ate it without a single complaint. Poor guy. ๐
Those early days were something else. I would call Amma every 5 minutes just to ask the names of ingredients โ what is this called, how much of that, how long do I cook this. Back then WhatsApp wasn’t widely used so we would Skype. Me in my kitchen, Amma on the screen, both of us figuring it out together. ๐ค
My father in law also taught me so much. I would watch him cook and quietly learn. He never made a big deal of it โ he just cooked and I watched. Some of my favourite recipes today come from those quiet observations.
Looking back now โ it has been a long, beautiful journey.
Today I cook every single day for my family. My husband handles the eating AND the cleaning โ because I make an absolute mess in the kitchen ๐ โ and I handle everything in between. We make a good team. ๐ค
I am a mom of two โ a son and a daughter. Neither of them are picky eaters and that is something I am incredibly grateful for. I always make sure that whatever goes into their plates is both tasty and healthy. No compromises on either. ๐ช
What you’ll find on Homebites 365 is exactly what I cook at home every day โ Amma’s recipes, family recipes, recipes from people who have touched my life, and recipes I have discovered and fallen in love with along the way. They are simple, quick, easy and almost no fail. No fancy techniques. No restaurant style plating. Just real food that families eat every day.
For me food is everything. And cooking is my expression of love. The best feeling in the world is watching my family finish their plates completely โ licking their fingers and asking for another portion. That moment. That’s why I cook. ๐ค
I am 12 years into this journey and I still believe that every single day is a learning experience. I may know a lot of things but there is always so much more to learn. And I am happily in that journey.
Come join me. Anyone who reads this blog will be able to cook these recipes easily โ I promise you that. Because if I could go from never making Maggi to cooking every day for my family โ you can do this too. ๐
My dear friend is my pillar of support by being biggest cheerleader in the kitchen. She loves everything I make, from everyday curries to baked treats.
None of this would have happened without my husband โ who turned that thought into reality. He saw what I couldn’t see in myself and pushed me to start Homebites 365. Without him this blog would still just be a thought in my head. ๐ thanks dear husband
So here we are. A dream that started in my kitchen, believed in by the people I love most. ๐ค
Thank you all..๐
Simple food. Big memories. That’s Homebites 365. ๐ค
